All-Inclusive Resorts

Vacationing at all inclusive resorts is a great way to skip extensive planning and still have an excellent experience. Most all-expenses paid packages require you to pay a single fee, which then covers the cost of your hotel room and other resort amenities.

As different resorts vary greatly in terms of amenities and experience, it is important to shop around to see which resorts are best suited to your vacation-style. For instance, the activities available in different resort packages range from all-day outdoor excursions to relaxing spa treatments.

It is important to remember that all inclusive vacations are different from all-inclusive resorts. An all-inclusive vacation typically covers airfare, hotel, meals and activities. An all-inclusive resort covers most of the expenses at the resort, such as the cost of the room, meals, beverages and activities, but does not cover airfare.

However, many vacation packages are structured in different ways. There are also a variety of packages that provide airfare vouchers and others that only cover the hotel room and the cost of a flight.

Where are all-inclusive resorts located?

The most common all inclusive resort destinations are tropical, though there are also several popular ski resorts that offer all-inclusive deals. However, these tickets are not usually valid during holiday seasons. Below are some of the most common resort destinations.

  • Cancún, Mexico
  • The Caribbean, including the Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica and more
  • Colorado
  • European destinations, including the Canary Islands in Spain, Santorini in Greece, the city of Puglia in Italy, the Algarve in Portugal and more
  • Upstate New York

Keep in mind that resorts with all-inclusive deals are located around the world, with some of the most luxurious options being in lesser-known locations.

What to Do at an All-Inclusive Resort

The best all inclusive resorts have on-site restaurants, activities, rooms with a view and relaxation opportunities. If you have a family, there are countless all inclusive family resorts that offer kid-friendly restaurants and amenities. Amenities for kids may include swimming pools, beaches, gaming centers, amusement parks and waterparks.

There are also resorts designed for outdoor enthusiasts, which are often in natural hiking and skiing locations, and resorts designed for romantic getaways, including wedding and honeymoon destinations.

Ultimately you may customize your vacation by selecting a resort that caters to your needs. Be sure to check which excursions are covered in a resort all-inclusive fee, as some activities that are outside of the resort may not be included.

Additional Information About All-Inclusive Resorts

When booking an all inclusive resort package, keep in mind that some costs will not be covered. This includes service charges and government taxes. Most resorts also base their room rates on double occupancy. If a third guest joins in, the customers may be required to pay an additional fee.

In addition, it is important for customers to read the fine print when they book all-inclusive deals. They will be more informed on what is included in the rate and whether certain activities are separately charged. For example, some resorts have golf courses and spas, though guests may be charged an extra fee for using them.
